Never too old for Monster Truck fun!
Oh my gosh, we just got in from the Opening Night of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam show in Pittsburgh -- I am still pumped up on adrenaline!
I haven't been to a Monster Truck show in too many years ... but let me tell you, you're never too old for Monster Truck fun. I must have taken a million pictures of these trucks flying through the air ... seriously cool. The trucks were competing in the UTI Nationals, so there was a purpose to the evening, complete with timers, judges and scoring. They trucked in tons of dirt to transform the arena floor, blocking off many of the closer seats to prevent getting hit by the flying mud! The trucks are larger than life and so full of color and imagination. Each truck had it's own personality, truly. My favorite was a toss up between Maximum Destruction, the leader for tonite's show and El Toro Loco, driven by a GIRL!
This was a fairly priced event and definately one for everyone in the family to enjoy. Some would say it is a LOUD event, and we did bring along ear plugs, but honestly didn't use them for much of the night - it wasn't too bad at all. There were little kids everywhere, dads with sons and entire families enjoying the night. Though we saw plenty of Grandparents toting the grandkids and all their souveniers! Not just a kids show though, it was really a good time for all. The audience was invited to boo and cheer during the quad races. We jumped like maniacs to get the attention of the T-shirt shooters, sending free t-shirts into the stands on several occasions. There were lots of handmade signs by kids, of their favorite Monster Truck drivers, so cute.
With the ticket savings for kids on PittsburghKidsGuide.com, you can have a nice evening out for everyone. Parking close to the arena was $20, but if you drove a little further up the block, you could find it for $10 and $15 in various lots. Bring extra money for souvenier truck hats with cotton candy and a Grave Digger boomerang! A truly enjoyable night out with the kids, I'm ready to go back tomorrow! Have fun!
